The mission of Aurora Charter School is to operate a center of learning that embraces academic excellence and celebrates the gift of Latino culture.

 

Our unique dual language program is designed around the three pillars of dual language education; Bilingualism and Biliteracy, high academic achievement, and sociocultural competence. We strive to ensure that each child develops strong biliteracy skills, achieves at their highest potential, and develops a socio-cultural competence that helps them develop into noble citizens of our community. 

Job Summary:

At Aurora Charter School, we believe our greatest resource is the people who form our team. The Elementary Bilingual Teacher, under the supervision of the principal, is responsible for creating a dual-language (English/Spanish) classroom environment that ensures the learning and personal growth of every student, motivating students to become bilingual/biliterate leaders, developing critical thinking skills, and become environmental stewards. 

 

Grades Levels: 

 

Kindergarten (90% Spanish with 10% English Push-In) 

3rd Grade (70% English/30% Spanish)

4th Grade (60% English/40% Spanish)

5th Grade (Math/Science Spanish)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Teachers must be committed to preserving the mission, vision, and student success profile of the school. 

  • Create and maintain effective environments for student learning.

  • Plan instruction and design differentiated learning experiences for a range of needs and abilities utilizing MN standards. 

  • Use formative and summative assessments of student learning to drive instruction.

  • Collect and analyze student data to improve the school-wide instructional program. 

  • Collaborate with instructional coaches, students, and families to support the academic and social development of students. 

  • Communicate and actively build a strong relationship with students and parents/guardians on a regular basis, including leading parent conferences.

  • Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback, reflection, and growth, as supported by our PBIS, implemented program.  

  • Attend IEP and 504 meetings as required for your students. 

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities. 

  • Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school, including curriculum nights and school events. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
